Forests without Borders

Forests without Borders

According to McKinsey, 10 million hectares of land (roughly equal to the size of South Korea) are deforested every year. This accounts for 14% of annual global CO2 emissions.

Deforestation affects the planet in 4 ways:

  • Raises emissions
  • Reduces carbon-capture capacity
  • Decline in biodiversity
  • Impacts millions of people who make their living in / around forests

At the Plum Blossom Company, we take our responsibility to the planet very seriously. Hence, in addition to our commitment to maintaining a portfolio only of GOTS certified products, we have chosen to provide our corporate support to Forests without Borders (FwB).

This lovely charity is established by members of the Canadian Institute of Forestry (CIF), who desired to "to use their skills and knowledge to help reduce poverty, restore ecosystems and increase people’s understanding of the sustainable development of forest resources."

The organization consists entirely of volunteers, and has done brilliant work around the world - from working in Ghana training locals to map and document sacred forests and planting multipurpose forest tree nurseries at schools in Nepal to reforesting land in Madagascar.

Contact us to learn more about how you can support our next fundraising campaign.

We also invite you to visit the FwB website, and make a donation directly. As a registered charity in Canada, donations come with instant tax receipts.
